The emcee of our Demo Day will be Mike May, a freelance sports industry publicist based in Wellington, Florida. For nearly 25 years, he served the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (now, Sports & Fitness Industry Association) as its director of communications. Over the years, he has made more than 2,000 ‘live’ appearances on local and national morning, mid-morning, midday, and weekend television newscasts as a guest discussing many of the product innovations in the sports industry, including segments in recent years showcasing cardio tennis and POP tennis. Mike, an avid golfer, is also an accomplished travel golf writer and is a member of the Golf Writers Association of America. He traces his roots as a golf writer to the 1983 Open Championship at England’s Royal Birkdale -- which he attended for all four days -- and then voluntarily wrote his own account of that major championship event, as if he were reporting for a publication. In addition to his projects in the sports industry, Mike plays tennis, coaches girls high school basketball, officiates soccer, does play-by-play commentary of high school sports, and works with PHIT America, a cause that is focused on reversing America’s ‘Inactivity Pandemic’ and to bringing daily P.E. back to all U.S. schools. Mike is a 1985 graduate of the University of Florida where he earned a degree in broadcasting.
